Asbestos Removal Christchurch

Class A Work

15th August 2019

BRS successfully conducted a four-stage clearance at 41 Wales Street on the asbestos removal of textured plaster from the specified areas below:

Area Removal Activity

Asbestos Removal Area – Results

Visual Inspection

Inspection of the specific area found no visible asbestos, therefore the area can be reoccupied.

Air Monitoring

Air monitoring was required for this project. The filter has been analysed using 4 samples collected. Air monitoring was carried out as part of the clearance inspection and the results did not exceed 0.01 fibres/ml.

CRL Energy was supplied 2 filter cartridges for analysis to determine levels of airborne fibres present at the sampling time.

Each filter was analysed in accordance with Safe Work Australia’s Guidance Note on the Membrane Filter Method for the estimation of airborne asbestos fibres, 2nd edition [NOHSC:3003(2005)] and section 30 of The Code of Practice for the Management and Removal of Asbestos.

The level considered acceptable by Worksafe New Zealand to indicate that current control measures are sufficient is <0.01 fibre/mL over a sampling period equivalent to at least 4hrs (240min) at 2L/min (480L)

Final samples were received by CRL Energy Ltd on the 15th August 2019 where a swap was tested on the hallway and bathroom ceiling batten and no asbestos was detected.

Identify Consultants Ltd issued a Certificate of Clearance for 41 Wales Street, another job successfully completed by BRS.

41 Wales Street has PASSED the Identify Consulting 2019 Limited four-stage clearance in line with:

  • WorkSafe’s Approved Code of Practice – Management and Removals of Asbestos November 2016
  • Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
  • Health and Safety at Work (asbestos) Regulations 2016
